Monthly Meetings

Blackpool Young Labour hold a regular monthly meeting to discuss issues and to organise campaigning and social events. The next meeting will simply coincide with the social outlined below (our meetings are quite informal anyway). We will be making plans for recruitment in local colleges at this meeting, so if you are at college at the moment we would like to hear from you. If you can't make this meeting email secretary.blackpoolyounglabour@gmail.com.

Social

On Sat 13th August, Blackpool Young Labour will be hosting a North-West Young Labour social event on the beach (weather permitting). Anyone travelling from within the local area should meet us at Blackpool North train station at 3pm where we will be meeting our comrades from across the region. Those travelling from outside the local area need to go to Blackpool North train station if travelling by rail, or if you are travelling by bus or car email secretary.blackpoolyounglabour@gmail.com to make rendezvous arrangements.

Blackpool Young Labour Elections
Blackpool Young Labour will be holding executive committee elections this October. To get involved come along to our meetings and other events and run for one of the positions. The current interim executive that was formed to get the group off the ground is made up of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. There will be discussion before the elections whether we expand the executive to include other positions.

2011 Regional Conference comes to Blackpool

BLACKPOOL has been chosen to host Labour North West’s 2011 Regional Conference this Autumn.

Labour event organisers are predicting it will be their biggest regional conference ever with up to 1,000 delegates expected to attend.

Leading Labour politicians, MPs, celebrities and exhibitors will join party members to discuss how Labour can work best for the North West in these tough times.

The Conference will be held at the Imperial Hotel from November 4 – 6, with the Winter Gardens holding a gala dinner. The North West Young Labour conference will run alongside this and include a social for all members of Blackpool Young Labour and Young Labour delegates from across the North West.

Louise Baldock, chair of Labour North West's Regional Board, said:"We’re delighted to be taking our regional conference to Blackpool.

"Blackpool will provide an excellent venue for senior politicians and Party members to shape Labour’s solutions to the challenges facing the North West.

"1,000 new members per month have joined the Labour Party in the North West since last May’s General Election.

"Our weekend conference in Blackpool will provide an ideal opportunity for many to attend their first Party event while providing a welcome boost to the resort’s hotels and businesses.

"We have had many happy conferences in the past in Blackpool and it’s exciting to be coming back with both old friends and a new generation of members."

Mandy Tythe-McCallum, Business Tourism Manager for visitBlackpool, added:"Blackpool’s efforts to regain its position as one of the UK’s top destinations for political conferences has been handed a welcome boost with this news.

"It’s great that we are back on the political conference map and that our strategy to try and secure both new and lapsed events is starting to have a real impact."
